Fans of Nebraska football are always ready and willing to see a favorite player succeed. They are especially happy when the player is a stalwart member of the community and a generally upstanding gentleman.

Many people will be sad to see Zac Lee go. Lee, however, has found a way to ensure that his legacy of personal growth and success never leaves the Lincoln community he has grown to love.

Lee, early Monday morning, announced he was preordering 50 Zac Lee rookie collectible football cards. 45 of these will be donated to area businesses, charities, and homeless shelters. Lee said he plans to keep 5 for himself.

“Ndamukong Suh proved last year that overwhelming success doesn’t mean you have to lose your soul,” Lee said, dressed in a suit over his Nebraska football jersey. “When, as expected, I become the first overall pick in the NFL Draft this April, I want to leave my mark in the most positive manner possible.”

“I’ll have an extraordinary opportunity to revive the Carolina Panthers franchise and lead them to a Super Bowl,” Lee said, “and I do plan on committing my full attention to winning the 2011-2012 NFL MVP award. But please know that my heart will forever be in Lincoln.”

Runza, reportedly a recipient of one of Lee’s cards, has said they will be donating their prize to the local landfill.

Jacob......You must know the real Lee, instead of his media face.

I am sorry and don't take this wrong, I just can't see it. Sam Keller doesn't even have stats for a whole season. The stats he does have for a 7 game rtestch include a number of intercepts, and yardage against teams ranked low on pass defense. He played for a team out of the top 25 and they voted him off. Tell me we have pinned our hopes on something better than someone rejected by ASU?? I have seen talented people before and you can have all the talent in the world , but, if you don't fit in with the other players, or you don't apply yourself, or, if you are a quitter and walk out on your teammates, (all characteristics Sam has shown so far) you will be a waste of time. I for one see Sam with limited effectiveness, unless of course Bill surprises us and uses the dual QB threat the way Tom O used to do. Some mixture of Joe G. along with Sam K. just might work
