'Paranormal Activity' Director To Flick Lights On And Off, Make Spooky Noises

"Basically, I'm going to sneak into two dozens houses picked at random," Peli told rapt audience members, "and when the owners least expect it, I'll totally mess with the lights, maybe even make some spooky noises. You know, all 'Wooohhoooooohh! Whaaaaat iiiiiis thiiiiiis?'
"It's so going to mess with people's minds."
Much like his first hit film, Peli hopes his next project (tentatively entitled "Is That a Ghost, You Guys?") will play off of his audiences' everyday fears and anxieties.
"After I made thousands of people crap themselves by opening and closing a door in 'Paranormal Activity,' I didn't know how I could take it to the next level," Peli said. "But then I asked myself, 'Oren, what's truly scary, aside from the fact a time-lapsed shot of a women standing in place for several hours sent audiences nationwide into hysterics?'"
Through that bold thought experiment, Peli stumbled upon the basic premise for ITAGYG. He claims he went through several ideas, including "filming a mirror in a super creepy, really dark room," before finalizing the concept.
"I wanted to hone in what people are afraid of," Peli reported. "And based on what I learned from my last movie, I came up with a massive list: someone hitting the light switch by accident; faulty wiring; forgetting to pay the power bill; your friend just being a dick.
"The truly scary thing is that I know people will pay for this shit."
"Is That a Ghost, You Guys?" is expected to launch later this month, though Peli is remaining mum on the exact date.
"I can't tell people exactly when I'm going to start, or else I'll ruin the surprise," Peli said. "I want people to go home at night and wonder 'Is there some whacked out Israeli dude hiding in my closet?' They won't know. That's the beauty of it. Unless they get up and check, or something.
"But that'd totally fuck up the mystique."
