N Vision: Dick

“People have been making fun of me since fifth grade,” Dick said, “but you learn to get used to it and shrug that stuff off.”
The Aurora native said having a name that is also a word for a "silly" part of the human anatomy is the only thing that has held her back from becoming president of the Gamma Phi Beta sorority.
“It’s been hard,” Dick said. “But it’s baffling to me that some people are still immature enough to laugh when they say that word; it makes a really pretty name. Besides, everybody has them. I have two.”
Still, high school classmates teased her with names like “Tips,” “Nubs” and “Ringleader.” Once, the candidate explained, a group of male UNL students lined up shirtless outside the City Campus Union to taunt Dick as she walked by. They chanted “Bumplestiltskin.”
But in the face of adversity, there is at least one ASUN candidate determined to come out on top: Jamie Areola Dick.
