Minecraft | Game Review

The brainchild of Markus 'Notch' Persson and his company of Swedish game developers Mojang, “Minecraft” is an incredibly addictive sandbox game where players create and destroy worlds, one block at a time. It's easy to see where this game gets its cult following, giving miners the freedom to play God in an expansive world filled with danger, excitement, and, with the most recent update, adventure.

Currently, “Minecraft” is still only in its beta phase, but that hasn't stopped it from logging an impressive 3.4 million paid users. The full version of the game is expected in November of this year but, in addition to all the ladies you'll impress at parties, beta users enjoy the 25% discount they receive by becoming paid members before the game officially hits shelves.

Since it's still in development, “Minecraft” updates frequently, which can be a little annoying. Overall, however, this game gets top marks in my books. User beware: you’ll probably spend way too much time playing this game, inducing side effects such as body odor, sensitivity to sunlight, failing grades, fear of going outside at night, and a true appreciation for all the uses of wood in a lonely mine. But maybe that last one’s just me.
