Just Go With It | Film Review

Oh, Adam Sandler. I don’t know what to say about you. You haven’t been funny since... God, I can’t even remember when. ‘Punch-Drunk Love?’ That wasn’t even an Adam Sandler movie, it was just a Paul Thomas Anderson movie that you starred in. Maybe ‘Waterboy?’ Man, that was such a long time ago. I think I laughed a couple of times in ‘Don’t Mess with the Zohan.’ Maybe?

These are the thoughts that go through my mind as I sit through ‘Just Go With It,’ -- possibly the worst Adam Sandler movie yet, which is really saying something. I don’t even know what to say about the movie, because every scene had so many things wrong with it. There was a cameo by Dave Mathews and Nicole Kidman that was just sad. Sorry Nicole, you aren’t funny. The hot girl that Adam Sandler is trying to date, I don’t even care enough to look up her name, was awful. She was nice to look at, I guess, but her acting was so bad it made her look like Bette Midler.

It’s hard to be engaged in a movie when you as an audience member know the stars, Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston, don’t even want to be making the movie. There was no chemistry between the two of them and neither even tried to fake it. Compared to that relationship, the fact that Jennifer Aniston’s character thought she was ugly and that her best career option was to be an assistant seemed believable.

To quote a famous Roger Ebert line, I hate hate hate hate hate hate hate hate this movie and I wouldn’t force viewing it on my worst enemy. For the love of everything that is right in the world, don’t go see it.
