The birds across the street have absolutely lost their mind. They’ve spent the past three days screaming, fighting, and gorging themselves, creating an area of complete ruin beneath the trees where I happen to park my car everyday. My ‘89 VW Golf hasn’t been washed since my senior year in high school, and hopefully the fact that I’m scraping loads of smashed berries and bird feces off each of my windows will inspire me to visit the car wash.

Last week’s taste of spring has confused more than a few birds. Justin Bieber cut his hair, Charlie Sheen decided to take a night off, and tens of hundreds of people are still paying money to see new Nicolas Cage films. When things seem to be at their wildest, someone always steps in flip the ‘reset’ button. The debris that covers everything: the clothes, the dishes, and the relationships, simply requires some our time and quarters to make them clean again.

Some of us, like the demon-birds on my block, constantly lay waste to everything around us, rendering the rest of us unable to tend to our own garbage. How many insane birds do you associate yourself with? Is it really worth your time and car wash tokens to park beneath their livelihood? Hopefully you can find it in yourself to start fresh when Spring finally rears its beautiful head. Park your car down the street as the salt and grime finds its way to the gutter. Maybe you’ll find someone close to home who’s willing manage some of your messes, and hopefully help make some new ones.
