Entertainment Editor's Note 12/7
Story by Dylan Bliss

Everyone is making lists. Santa, Obama, Rolling Stone and Seeds are all busy ranking and organizing the events of 2010 into bite-sized bits. I feel like I’ve been studying for a comprehensive final 11 months in the making. Searching for great movies, music and women parallels arduously thumbing through a giant textbook looking for bold text. You don’t want to miss what’s going to be on the test, but in this case, there is no test.

The pursuit of these mediums is stranger to me the more I think about it. We’re in a race against time to please ourselves. It’s morbid, but the number of obscure bands we uncover, the double majors we undertake and even the soapboxes we stand on are meaningless. Just like every other student on campus, I’m fighting homelessness with business degrees and loan money. For what? Pleasure, self worth, faith and community.

2010 is a wake-up call. At the turn of the millennium, I was gulping sparkling cider out of a plastic champagne glass, the economy was in good shape and the prospect of an ivy league row landing me a CEO slot was only a short decade away. I can’t be sad about the way things have turned out; everyone including myself will forget it all soon anyway. To quote my new favorite Phosphorescent song, “Oh, I wish I was in heaven sitting down. I wish this road we were taking wasn't made for breaking down. I wish these nights of pleasure and these days of pain
weren't so tightly bound, and I wish I was in heaven sitting down.”

Let’s get away from the big picture and take a look at the past year. The entertainment staff and I have put together a list of favorites from all different mediums. Take our picks with a grain of salt. Also, if you’d like to offer your favorites list, email me at dylanbliss@hotmail.com. I need more sources to poach from, or maybe I’ll just post them on the new Seeds Facebook page.
