Entertainment Editor's Note 10/5
Story by Dylan Bliss

Ever since I was a child I’ve harbored absolute respect for Mel Gibson. “Braveheart” still remains atop my list of ten favorite movies. Obviously, due to recent run-ins with the law and certain ex-lovers, Mel has been cast in a most unsavory light. Each of us has our days where we lash out in an anti-Semitic drunken rage against a police officer. Each of us has our days when we tumble down a cliff into a river while riding the ingenious invention we created during one of our good days. Moments of brilliance, like Mel’s tomahawk scene in “The Patriot”, can either define us or be completely forgotten deep within our consciousness (or our DVD collection).

I don’t care about a particular celebrity’s personal life; I don’t know why anyone ever started caring. These people provide a service. They would be broke without their audience, but they don’t seem to want to get to know us anywhere near the degree that we obsess over them. Stop buying the tablot, watching E!, and gossiping in your feminist culture class. These people will never hear your name, and their actions should never be held against any moral code higher than the one you afford the Korean guy down the street who walks his daughter on a leash every morning.

I’ll try to express this in each Seeds issue one way or another: Enjoy what these artists have offered. Don’t let their habitual drug and foreign adoption habits enter your day. It will afford you more time with the people you really care about.

Anyone who talks bad on Mel should have to fight him in the Thunderdome.
