Did you know I used write for the Daily Nebraskan?

Sure did. Way back in the day, I reviewed a video game once every two months. Okay, so I didn't write a lot.

Anyways, after working and mingling with the Daily staff for a year, I became very close friends with many within their ranks.

During that time I noticed there was a bit of a rivalry between the Daily and the DailyER. Some didn't like us because we were receiving a portion of the funds allocated to the Daily by university, and others disregarded our legitimacy as a publication.

Why all the animosity?

Maybe it's because the staff of each respective paper runs in different social circles? And make no mistake, the Daily is not the only guilty party, resentment is present on both sides. Whatever the reason may be, I, for one, don't think the reason is a good one.

Each paper has its own unique content and style to offer. Our presentation may not be as professional or consistent as the Daily's, but the DailyER also hasn't been around for 3,000 years. We don't pay our writers, designers or artists. We don't have any other incentive to make this paper other than our dedication to each other and the fact that we want to make people laugh.

This paper is our labor of love.

From design to dick jokes, we are constantly learning how to make the paper better with every issue.

With an incipient paper like ours, I'm surprised more of the Daily staff isn't jumping on board to help us expedite the DailyER's evolution. The Daily and the DailyER have a perfect opportunity to coalesce as publications in a time when print journalism is gasping for its last breath.

So lets stop these silly love games, everyone. We're all here to have a good time.

That goes for you readers, too. Even though the Daily and the DailyER don't always get along, we both love you very, very much. We need your help most of all.

After all, your support is what keeps the DailyER going.

So keep reading our stuff, commenting online and going to our concerts. In return, we'll keep you all giggling for a long time to come.

That is all.

Salud,

I'll never forget those countless hours of "reviewing" Fallout 3. Oh, the memories.
