While Roy Helu Jr. is slated to be the starter at running back again this season for the Huskers, much of the talk about the backfield this spring has focused on the names Dontrayevous Robinson and Rex Burkhead. Robinson and Burkhead are both sophomore running backs competing for time in the husker backfield. Fans are talking about their off-season weight gain, but it is the relationship between the two that is catching the attention of the rest of the team.

Robinson and Burkhead began working out together this off-season to try and gain weight and increase their speed for the upcoming season. What started as a competition has blossomed into much more. The two backs have become "best buds" making them practically inseparable.

“I never see Rex without Dontrayeveous anymore,” said Running Backs coach Tim Beck. “They eat together, hang out together, they even got a tandem bike to go to and from practice on.”

Robinson and Burkhead have frequently been spotted palling around town together. “Every week Dontrayeveous and I go to the firing range to fire off a few rounds. It has really brought us together as friends. We are even going to live together in Harper next year,” said Burkhead.

“We coordinated our class schedules for the fall,” said Robinson. “I don’t think I could take chemistry without Rex there with me.” According to Robinson, the two are planning a road-trip where they will visit every major league ballpark together over the summer.
