Breaking Down The Quarterback Controversy

LATRAVIS WASHINGTON
Latravis Washington will enter the spring game as the clear favorite to start this fall under the center. Sources within the program indicate that the job is his to lose during spring practice. Latravis showed a lot of poise last season, as one of the fake signal callers on the sidelines. Offensive Coordinator Shawn Watson has a lot of confidence in this linebacker-turned-quarterback. Watson cited Washington’s ability to "run over bitches like a god-damned tank," as why he is seen by many as the runaway favorite to become the next starting quarterback at the University of Nebraska.
TAYLOR MARTINEZ
Taylor Martinez will enter the spring game as the biggest "X-factor" in the Quarterback controversy. No one on the team is really sure where he came from, and not many people even recall seeing him before this off-season. However, there is one thing that everyone agrees on: Taylor Martinez is fast.

“The guy is just straight up fast,” said Offensive Coordinator Shawn Watson. “I mean, he doesn’t exactly finish first in sprints or anything, but he may be the fastest guy we have on the team. It’s kinda hard to explain.”
KODY SPANO
Kody Spano has been the forgotten stepchild of the Quarterbacking depth chart at Nebraska. Sidelined all last year, many fans forget to bring his name up while discussing the quarterback controversy. Shawn Watson warns that no one should overlook Spano.
“Kody has a serious shot at winning the starting job in the fall. He is one of the guys we are looking at to take the reigns of our offense. We’ll see how he performs in the spring game.”
Spano’s cause has found support through the respect he has gained from his teammates. Frequently described as “a fucking badass,” Kody Spano has won over many in the locker room. Spano has also been the only player to campaign for the starting job. According to one student manager, Spano has been leaving flyers at the Hewitt Center with reasons as to why he should be the next starting quarterback.
