Biden Drops Baby: Mother, Obama Supporter, ‘Honored’

Moments prior to taking the stage, Biden walked through the crowd of about 2,000. He greeted supporters and stopped to hold the infant son of a Des Moines woman.
“Oh lordy me, what am I doin’?” Biden laughed just after losing his grip on the 3-month-old, according to the infant’s mother, Angela Stenopolous. “Oh, horse feathers. Sheesh, darn it all. Good golly gosh, oh my. God love ya,” Biden added.
Stenopolous, 28, described herself as an “ardent Obama supporter” and attended the rally as a member of a local organization of single mothers.
Biden was quick to publicly apologize for this most recent gaffe. “Well, you know, these things happen. The little bast– the little guy just slipped right out. But Ms. Snuffalupagous seemed fine.”
“When I saw little Barry hit the floor, I started to cry,” Stenopolous said. “I was just so honored.” The glee-stricken mother has been following Sen.
Biden’s gaffes for months, but never thought she would get the chance to be a part of one. “I was excited to hear he might use the ‘N’ word today, but now, who cares? This is going to be the one people remember. It almost makes me glad Barry survived the abortion.”
However, it wasn’t all smiles for Stenopolous.
She expressed deep concern that supporters of Sen. John McCain might not understand her excitement. “I just want people to get it. It’s like... If you’re a conservative, just imagine Dale Earnhardt Jr. hitting your kid with his car.”
When asked if she has considered voting for McCain next week, Stenopolous said she has always been a “disciple” of Sen. Barack Obama.
She’s been a Democrat since registration, and she hasn’t wavered. “I can’t wait to vote for The One. I registered through ACORN, and he is getting all of my votes.”
During his speech, Biden joked about the life-threatening incident. “I won’t let this election slip through my fingers, like I did that baby.”
The remarks received thunderous laughter and applause.
Barry Obama Stenopolous is at Children’s Grace Hospital in stable condition, according to pediatrician David Han. “Luckily, the child’s nanny arrived with him just in time,” Dr. Han said. “It was pretty touch-and-go for a while, but the child should be okay.”
Stenopolous requested that updates on her son’s condition be given via e-mail, according to Dr. Han.
Stenopolous has been heavily involved in Single Mothers United for Good since her oldest child was born in 2002. She claims to have separated from her children’s father seven years ago.
“All he ever talked about was working hard to pay off his debt,” Stenopolous said. “We shouldn’t have to work to get money. That’s what socialism is for,” she added. “Finally, in this, the year of our Barack, we have a candidate who understands that.”
Stenopolous went on to praise Obama for his long-time support of Single Mothers United for Good. “If there’s one person who knows SMUG, it’s him.”
